Wodiam Wim S 16in Saw Blade
Product Description
Wodiam WIM-S Silent Core Bridge Saw Blade
The Wodiam WIM-S is a professional silent-core bridge saw blade developed primarily for fast, clean cutting of porcelain and ceramic slabs. Unlike many porcelain-specific blades, the WIM-S is designed to also cut granite and engineered quartz, making it especially useful in fabrication shops that move between different materials throughout the day.
One of the most unique features of the WIM-S is how the blade maintains its cutting performance. After cutting one or two porcelain slabs, Wodiam recommends running the blade through granite or engineered stone. The more abrasive material helps open the bond and expose fresh diamond, effectively re-sharpening the blade for the next porcelain job.
This makes the WIM-S particularly well suited for mixed-material production shops. Instead of constantly removing the blade for dressing or changing blades every time production moves from porcelain to granite or quartz, the shop can use those materials as part of the blade's normal sharpening cycle.
The WIM-S uses a silent-core construction to help reduce cutting noise and vibration while maintaining the stability needed for clean bridge saw cuts. When operated at the proper RPM, feed rate, and water flow, it is capable of very fast production speeds while maintaining excellent edge quality.
The blade is designed for bridge saws with adjustable spindle RPM. Proper machine setup is important with Wodiam blades, as they are engineered to operate within specific RPM and feed-rate ranges rather than simply being pushed as fast as the saw will travel.
Key Features
Designed for Porcelain Production
Originally developed for clean, efficient cutting of porcelain and ceramic slabs, making it a strong choice for fabrication shops processing these materials regularly.
Granite & Quartz Re-Sharpen the Blade
After every one or two porcelain slabs, cutting granite or engineered quartz helps open the blade's bond and expose fresh diamond. This restores aggressive cutting performance without requiring a separate dressing process.
Multi-Material Capability
In addition to porcelain, the WIM-S can be used on granite, engineered quartz, marble, limestone, and many other common stone materials.
Silent Core Construction
The silent-core design helps reduce bridge saw noise and vibration while providing the stability needed for controlled, accurate cuts.
High Production Cutting
Wodiam engineered the WIM-S for high-speed production. When matched with the correct saw horsepower, RPM, feed rate, and water flow, the blade is capable of very fast cutting while maintaining good edge quality.
Adjustable-RPM Saw Required
The WIM-S is specifically designed for bridge saws with adjustable spindle speed. Running the blade at the proper RPM is an important part of achieving the intended cutting speed, blade life, and finish quality.
Wet Cutting
Proper water delivery is essential. Water should reach the blade where the segments enter the material to flush the cut and again as the blade exits the material to provide adequate cooling.
Not Recommended for Quartzite
Quartzite is specifically excluded from the WIM-S application range. For quartzite production, use a dedicated quartzite blade designed for the hardness and abrasive characteristics of that material.
Recommended Materials
- Porcelain Slabs
- Ceramic Materials
- Granite
- Engineered Quartz
- Engineered Stone
- Marble
- Limestone
Not Recommended: Quartzite
Why the WIM-S Works Differently
Porcelain can gradually polish or close the bond of a diamond blade, causing cutting performance to slow. The WIM-S is designed around a mixed-material workflow that helps solve this problem.
After cutting one or two porcelain slabs, run the blade through granite or engineered quartz at the appropriate settings. The abrasive characteristics of these materials help expose fresh diamond and restore the cutting edge. The blade can then return to porcelain with renewed cutting performance.
For shops that regularly alternate between porcelain, granite, and engineered quartz, this can reduce blade changes and manual dressing while keeping production moving.

*Feed rates vary based on material, thickness, blade diameter, saw horsepower, water delivery, and whether the cut is straight or mitered. Published Wodiam/DeFusco cutting figures should be used as operating guidance rather than a fixed speed for every application.
Getting the Best Performance from the WIM-S
Make sure the saw is capable of adjustable spindle RPM and that the blade is running at the recommended speed for its diameter. The WIM-S is a performance-oriented blade and proper RPM is important for both cutting speed and segment life.
Use strong, consistent water flow on both sides of the blade. Water should reach the segment where it enters the slab to clear slurry and should continue through the exit of the cut to cool the blade.
When cutting porcelain regularly, do not wait until the blade becomes noticeably slow before sharpening it. After approximately one or two porcelain slabs, make cuts through granite or engineered quartz to help expose fresh diamond and keep the blade performing aggressively.
Do not use the WIM-S as a quartzite blade. Quartzite requires a different bond and operating characteristics, and Wodiam specifically recommends dedicated quartzite blades for that application.
