Production-Level Cutting Speed

Speed is one of the first things fabricators notice when they put the FISSION on the saw.

Our customers regularly report cutting quartz in the 230–275 inches-per-minute range, with some applications and 2cm materials reaching approximately 300 inches per minute when the saw, material, water delivery, and operating conditions allow it.

Those aren't speeds every saw or every slab should automatically be run at. Feed rate should always be matched to the machine, material, blade diameter, water delivery, and quality of cut.

The important part is that the FISSION gives experienced saw operators substantial production capability without requiring them to sacrifice edge quality just to gain speed.

In a high-volume shop, that can make a meaningful difference. Faster cycle times mean less time waiting on the bridge saw and more material moving through fabrication.

Surprisingly Capable on Quartzite

The FISSION was not designed to replace a dedicated quartzite blade in every situation, but its ability to cut hard quartzite is one of the reasons our customers like it so much.

Depending on the material and saw, we've seen the FISSION cut difficult quartzites in approximately the 80–90 inches-per-minute range.

That's important because many shops don't want to change their bridge saw blade every time a single slab of Taj Mahal or another quartzite enters production.

With the FISSION, you often don't have to.

For a shop cutting predominantly granite and quartz with occasional quartzite jobs mixed into the schedule, the FISSION gives you an unusually broad working range from one blade.

For sustained, multi-slab quartzite production, however, we still recommend moving to a blade specifically engineered for quartzite.

When We Recommend a Dedicated Quartzite Blade

The FISSION cuts quartzite remarkably well for a blade that also excels on granite and quartz.

However, if your shop is processing multiple slabs of dense quartzite continuously, we recommend moving to a dedicated quartzite blade.

Not Recommended for Porcelain or Ultra-Compact Materials

The FISSION is not our recommended blade for porcelain slabs or ultra-compact materials.

Those materials behave differently from granite, quartz, and natural stone and should be cut with a blade specifically engineered for them.

For porcelain and ultra-compact applications, we recommend moving to a purpose-built option such as:

Selecting the correct blade for the material improves cutting performance, protects expensive slabs, reduces unnecessary stress on the tooling and saw, and usually produces a better finished edge.

There are plenty of bridge saw blades that can cut granite and quartz.

The reason we continue recommending the FISSION isn't simply because it cuts those materials. It's because of how well it combines production speed, blade life, edge quality, miter performance, and material versatility in a single blade.

For a shop primarily cutting granite, quartz, and engineered stone, it's difficult to find a reason not to consider it as your everyday blade.

If you occasionally need to cut a hard quartzite slab, leave it on the saw and keep cutting.

If you're moving into an entire run of difficult quartzite, switch to the dedicated quartzite blade.
