The Diamax Hurricane Silent Core is a high-production bridge saw blade designed for fast, dependable cutting of granite, engineered quartz, and quartzite. Built around a versatile diamond bond and a tall 20mm segment, the Hurricane gives fabrication shops an excellent combination of cutting speed, blade life, and cost per cut.

One of the Hurricane's biggest advantages is its ability to perform across a wide range of bridge saws. Diamax designed the blade to work effectively on machines from approximately 10 to 25 horsepower, making it a strong option for both smaller fabrication shops and higher-production saws.

The Hurricane is especially well suited for shops that regularly move between granite, engineered quartz, and quartzite and do not want to change blades every time the material changes. Its bond is aggressive enough for high-speed production on granite and quartz while still providing strong cutting performance on harder quartzite.

Slanted gullets between the diamond segments help move water and slurry away from the cutting path, allowing the segments to remain exposed and cut efficiently. The silent-core construction also helps reduce operating noise while maintaining the stability required for accurate bridge saw cutting.

Diamax recommends standard straight-cut feed rates up to approximately 150 inches per minute and miter speeds up to approximately 60 inches per minute. Under properly configured Category 5 conditions, the Hurricane is capable of substantially higher production speeds, but actual feed rates should always be matched to the material, saw horsepower, water flow, blade diameter, and desired edge quality.

Slanted Gullet Design

Slanted gullets help move slurry and cooling water through the cutting area, keeping debris from packing around the segments and helping the blade remain free-cutting during production.

Straight & Miter Cutting

Category 5 High-Speed Capability

The Hurricane is capable of considerably higher production speeds when used on the proper machine with optimized RPM, horsepower, water flow, and material conditions.

Diamax has demonstrated the 16" Hurricane under Category 5 operating conditions at approximately 226 inches per minute on granite and engineered stone and approximately 120 inches per minute on quartzite.

These Category 5 figures should be viewed as high-performance operating capability rather than a universal starting feed rate. Every fabrication shop should begin with conservative settings and increase feed speed only while the saw maintains spindle RPM, good water delivery, and acceptable finished edge quality.

Why the Hurricane Is a Strong Everyday Production Blade

Fabrication shops rarely cut only one material. A typical production schedule may move from granite to engineered quartz and then into quartzite during the same day. Constantly changing blades costs time and complicates production.

The Hurricane is designed to cover that mixed workload. It provides the aggressive cutting characteristics needed for granite and engineered quartz while still having enough quartzite capability to handle harder natural stone.

That versatility, combined with the tall 20mm segment and broad 10–25 HP operating range, makes the Hurricane particularly attractive for shops looking for strong production performance without moving into a more expensive specialty blade for every material.

Getting the Best Performance from the Hurricane

Start with the recommended RPM for your blade diameter and verify that the saw maintains spindle speed throughout the cut. Once the blade is cutting freely and producing a clean edge, gradually increase feed rate until you reach the best balance of speed, machine load, and finished edge quality.

Granite and engineered quartz will generally allow faster feed rates than quartzite. Do not assume that a speed that works well in engineered quartz will also be appropriate for a dense quartzite slab.

Use plenty of clean water on both sides of the blade. Proper water delivery cools the segments, removes slurry from the kerf, and allows the slanted gullet design to clear debris effectively.

If cutting speed begins to decline or the blade starts to glaze, dress the blade to reopen the diamond bond before increasing machine pressure or slowing production significantly.

During miter cutting, reduce the feed rate compared with straight cutting and pay close attention to blade load and edge quality. Miter cuts place greater lateral demand on both the blade core and the saw.

When to Choose a Different Diamax Blade

The Hurricane is an excellent general production blade for granite, engineered quartz, and quartzite, but more specialized applications may benefit from a dedicated blade.

• Mostly difficult quartzite: Consider the Diamax Cyclone QZT for a blade specifically engineered around hard quartzite.
